NDSU I-Corps mvp fund

 

Funded by the State of North Dakota and North Dakota State University’s Research and Creative Activity office, this is an opportunity designed to empower innovators with up to $20,000 in funding towards building a minimum viable product. This initiative serves as a pivotal resource in validating product ideas during the initial stages of development. Open to both past and current I-Corps participants, the fund requires a succinct half-page synopsis detailing the product and technology, a clear plan justifying fund utilization, and an explanation of how this grant will facilitate the technology’s commercialization. Recipients can strategically leverage this grant funding to explore market opportunities and further advance their technological breakthroughs. 

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Applicants must be building towards or already possess an MVP capable of attracting early-adopter customers.
  • Open to both past and current NDSU I-Corps participants.
 
 
Required Application Materials:
  • Application 
  • Synopsis of technology, define goals, and how receiving MVP funding will help advance your technology.
  • Statement of Work outlining the scope, timeline, and cost of your project.
  • Completed Single Year Budget Template with additional budget justification as needed.
 
 
Budget Justification
Allowable expenses include:
  • Materials and supplies for product development
  • Transportation costs for project related travel 
  • Salaries, contractors, consultants
  • Postage/Printing
  • Software
  • Memberships to innovation studio or other fabrication facility rental
  • Equipment rental
Unallowable expenses include:
  • Large equipment purchases
  • Personal computers
  • Conference travel without prior approval
  • Other items that do not directly contribute to MVP development
