The Regional I-Corps training spans five weeks, offering a blended approach to assess the market potential of your technology. This program welcomes both researchers and entrepreneurs, the curriculum explores the commercial potential of deep technology solutions across any industry sector. It prepares researchers to extend their focus beyond the lab and consider the economic and societal impact of their work.

Participants in an I-Corps team should allocate roughly 8-10 hours weekly throughout the duration of the five-week program. Each team should include, at the very least, an entrepreneurial lead (EL) and a technical lead (TL).

  • Session 1: Tuesday, July 21, 10am – 1pm CT

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

Jessica Vold

Jessica Vold

Jessica is the Engineering Entrepreneurship & Innovation Faculty member at North Dakota State University. She serves the College of Engineering teaching entrepreneurship to scientists and engineers. She is also an Assistant Professor teaching materials, mechanics, and introduction level engineering courses out of her home department, Mechanical Engineering. Jessica spent several years working for small businesses spun out of research at NDSU prior to joining the university in 2019. While working for one small business she completed a national NSF I-Crops cohort where listening to strangers became her favorite thing to do.

Micah Lande

Micah Lande, PhD is an Assistant Professor and E.R. Stensaas Chair for Engineering Education in the Leslie A. Rose Department of Mechanical Engineering at South Dakota Mines. Dr. Lande directs the Holistic Engineering Lab & Observatory. He teaches human-centered engineering design, design thinking, and design innovation courses. Dr. Lande researches how technical and non-technical people learn and apply design thinking and making processes to their work. He is interested in the intersection of designerly epistemic identities and vocational pathways. Dr. Lande received his B.S. in Engineering (Product Design), M.A. in Education (Learning, Design and Technology) and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Design Education) from Stanford University.
